I’m 38 weeks pregnant and according to my doctor this little boy could come any day now. I’m definitely physically ready to be done with nine months of pregnancy, and I can’t wait to meet my new little one. I have that same itchy feeling I get toward the end of the revision process on a book. After spending so many weeks and months writing and then rewriting, I just want to be done with it so I can move on to something else. Of course, when the publisher’s edits come around in another several weeks or months, I’m usually happy to revisit the story and look at it with fresh eyes. That’s how I feel about the Weston University novellas. The first one is out, the second one is in edits, and the third one was just submitted to the publisher. Which means I can’t work on them any more (for the present)! It’s a lovely feeling to have a book just out there…and to have the mental space to start imagining the next book.

That’s what I’ll be doing while I wait for the baby to decide it’s his birthday. I’m brainstorming the first book of a new series in preparation for NaNoWriMo. Of course, once the baby gets here, writing is going to go pretty far down the priorities list, at least for a while. But it’ll come back up, and I’ll be hard at work incubating a new book baby.
